An ancient village in the South Indian State of Karnataka, which is also referred to as the Group of Monuments. The three sides of Hampi is covered with the hills and the fourth side is covered by the Tungabhadra River, making the scenic point of view more attractive and eye treat for the tourist peoples. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Karnataka. It became the center of the Vijayanagara Empire Capital in the 14th Century. The state of the Hampi was a prosperous, wealthy, and a grand city near the Tungabhadra River.

It was the World’s second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing. The Vijayanagara Empire was defeated and their capital was conquered by the sultanate armies after which Hampi remained in ruins.

Hampi has a quite number of tourist attractions like Virupaksha Temple, Vithala Temple, Nandi Statue, etc,.
It is best to visit Hampi during the three day long Hampi Utsav held around October – November every year. It has even more and more of places and things to be known. Hampi is not the place to go just visit, it is the place where we should go explore and find out the treasures hidden out on our own.

VIRUPAKSHA TEMPLE:

The Virupaksha Temple, located in the Ballari District of Karnataka, is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. It is one of the top tourist attractions in Hampi and which is located beside the bank of the Tungabhadra River. This temple is said to be the one of the oldest temples in India, which dates back to the 7th Century AD. The queen of Vikramaditya, Lokamahadevi, built this temple for her husbands triumph. UNESCO has considered this temple as the World Heritage Site, as part of the Hampi Group of Monuments.

Hampi is a destination known for holding great historical significance and it is also well known as a paradise for rock climbers. The place has carved a special place as the rock climbing destination and it also offers a life time opportunity for all the rock climbers.

VITTALA TEMPLE:

Revealing the art and architecture of the Vijayanagara Empire, this Vittalla Temple is one of the major tourist attractions in Hampi. The complex and the structure of the temple is in the old age architectural style. The name of the temple “VITTALA” defines the history, a form of Lord Vishnu who was worshipped as the herdsmen of the empire.

ACHYUTARAYA TEMPLE:

This is one of the mesmerizing Achyutaraya Temple is an ideal example of the Vijaynagara architecture. It is one of the top attractions in Hampi region of Karnataka. This temple has two Gopura. One is inside the complex which is likely to find the main temple within the second enclosure. Other than the Garuda statue, the complex also houses on more shrine which is at the southwest of the temple.

MUSICAL PILLARS:

It is the most appealing structure of the Vittala Temple. This temple is famous for its marvelous architecture and also known for another extraordinary architectural 56 melodic columns or the musical pillars. These pillars create the melodic sounds when it is tapped delicately. It is also called as the SAREGAMA pillars.

The place Hampi is also famous for the Hazara Ram Temple which has gained the popularity because of the presence of the historical objects that is present at the time of the Ram and Krishna’s era. It is being claimed that the antique objects that are being present in this temple are being the rarest ones found in the whole India.

WATCHING A SUNSET EXPANDS YOUR HORIZON ABOUT LIFE…….

Most people headed towards the Matanga Hill which was proclaimed as the Sunset Point. This hill is very close to the Hampi bazaar and just exact opposite to the Virupaksha Temple. This is also said as the highest point in Hampi which is mainly famous for the sunrise and sunset. You just require some good stamina for you to admire the beauty of the sunset or the sunrise as you have to climb stone steps and some rocky patches too. It will be definitely a magical experience to stand there and watch the sun slowly dip behind the temple and the hills beyond.
