Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, popularly known as Fidel Castro, born on August 13, 1926, in Biran of Cuba. He was basically from an agrarian family who underwent all miseries caused by the concept of banana republics by the imperialist forces of the American continent. After completing his graduation in Arts and Letters, Fidel enrolled himself in Law in the University of Havana with a determination to raise voice for the rights of his fellow men.
The leadership quality of Fidel was well witnessed during his University days where he held the presidentship of various committees that took active participation in the political struggle against the atrocious government which acted on the lines of imperialist powers. Here is where he was attracted by the ideas of Marx and started believing in communism to be the best alternative power to throw off the capitalistic powers.
Fidel actually wanted to contest in an election and find a political solution to the problem his country faced and was all set for 1952 elections. But the former military officer Fulgencio Batista executed a coup and overthrew the existed government and took over the Presidentship of Cuba. He was a mere puppet in the hands of imperial powers and almost stamped dictatorship over the Cuban citizens.
This became the turning point in the life of Fidel. The barrister by graduation instead of arguing for the law has now taken the law in his hands. Fidel gathered a group of like-minded rebels and formed the famous 26 July movement and planned for the first-ever armed rebellion of Cuba by attacking the Moncada Barracks garrison. Even though it was a failure and Fidel was captured along with his rebels and jailed, actually, it was a great success when people fought and gained his release.
Now it became tough to lead his struggle legally, Fidel has to move to secret camps where he imparted training to his fellow revolutionaries. In one of such camps in Mexico is where he met his revolutionary partner Che Guevara, who joined as a medic but later turned to be an important revolutionary soldier of the Cuban revolution of 1959. In the month of January, Fidel and his soldiers gave a severe blow to the puppetry government and made a historic entry into Havana with triumph.
From then Fidel and Che were topping the hit-list of CIA of the US. The massive victory of Cuba against the CIA invasion of Bay of Pigs in 1961 made Fidel declare the socialist character of the Cuban revolution hitherto Cuba was openly seen as a socialist state. Fidel being the premiere and President of Cuba for years did not forget to mark the actual color of Cuba where he offered medical and educational service in third world countries through the doctors and teachers of Cuba. Fidel has promoted the education of many students through scholarship programs.
The man who was marked as the deadliest revolutionary and who escaped more than 600 plus encounter attempts performed by the CIA was actually a true inspiration for perfect leadership. The ways and means he adapted may be in violent terms but as the famous saying quotes the method of struggle is decided by the opponent and the environment we belong to is more suitable to Fidel. In his later years, he never supported violence but he always wanted his people to keep up the spirit of the historic revolution which is made over the blood and sacrifice of thousands of revolutionaries just keeping the motherland at the forefront.
It was on November 25, 2016, Fidel took his last breath and as per his wish, his ashes were honored in Santa Iphigenia cemetery and he was laid in rest forever. It was an amazing coincidence, where on November 25, 1956, Fidel along with Che and other revolutionaries climbed on-board the historic Granma yacht and landed in the marshy lands of the Tuxpan river to set an armed attack of 26 July movement which became historical one. I am sure that Fidel must have cherished all those wonderful memories on the last day of his life.
