Marble cake is a cake with its unique appearance with the light and dark batter, rich and buttery. The origin of this cake is from Germany. It is a mixture of vanilla and chocolate cake with vanilla as the base and few chocolate streaks which gives us that unique appearance. It brings back our childhood memories were our grandmas used to bake marble cakes for us. It is very simple and not the way as it looks.
It can also be baked with other flavors like coffee, or other fruit flavors like strawberry and etc.,
INGREDIENTS..
Butter (softened) - 250 gms
Powdered sugar - 250 gms
Eggs - 4
Self-raising flour - 250 gms
Milk - 4 to 5 tbsp
Vanilla extract - 2 tsp
Cocoa powder - 2 tbsp
PREPARATION..
1. Heat the oven to 160C.
2. Grease the cake tin with butter.
3. When mixing by hand, beat the butter and sugar together. Then add the eggs one by one mixing well after each egg. Add flour, vanilla extract, and milk and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
4. Divide the batter into two halfs.
5. Mix one half with cocoa powder and whisk until smooth.
6. Take the greased cake tin and add the batter.
7. Pour both the batter simultaneously and with the help of a spoon swirl into the batter for the marble effect.
8. Tap the bottom of the tin to make sure there are no air bubbles found.
9. Bake the cake for 50-55 minutes in the oven or until the skewer inserted comes out clean.
10. Transfer the cake to a tray and allow it to cool. Can store it in air tight container for 3-4 days or freeze it for 3 months.
